The suggestion that students should learn how to protect themselves from unexpected injuries is quite useful 5. Whatever difficulty you may/might meet (with), all your dreams will come true, as long as you keep on working hard.

3. 解析:本题考察be responsible for“为…

25. can 26. in 27. expressing 28. to learn 29. and 30. once 31. checked 32. who

25. 解析:can。 26. 解析:in。 固定搭配in a way 以某种方式。 27. 搭配have trouble (in) doing sth, 因此,填expressing。 28. 解析:to learn。 名词被最高级修饰时,后置定语用动词不定式,因此the best way to do。 29. 解析:and。 解析:who。

(B) Children have their own rules in playing games. They seldom need a referee (裁3

判) and rarely trouble to keep scores. They don’t care much about who wins or loses, and it doesn’t seem to worry them ____33____ the game is not finished. Yet, they like games that depend a lot on luck,__34__ ___34___ their personal abilities cannot be directly compared. They also enjoyed games that move in stages, in which each stage—the choosing of leaders, the picking-up of sides, or the determining of which side shall start—is almost a game in itself. Grown-ups can hardly find children’s game exciting, and they often feel puzzled at __35___ their kids play such simple game again and again. ____36_____, it is found that a child plays games for very important reasons. He can be a good player without having to think whether he is a popular person, and he can find himself being a useful partner to someone of whom he is ordinary afraid. He becomes a leader when it comes to ___37____ turn. He can be confident, too, in particular games, that it is his place to give orders, to pretend to be dead, to throw a ball actually at someone, or to kiss someone he ___38____(catch). It appears to us that when children play a game they imagine a situation ___39____ their control. Everyone knows the rules, and ___40___(importantly), everyone plays according to the rules. Those rules may be childish, but they make sure that every child has a chance to win.

33. if 34. so that 35. why 36. However 37. his 38. has caught 39. under 40. more importantly

33. 解析:if。 解析:so that。

36. 解析:However。 37. 解析:his。 固定搭配,come to one’s turn, 轮到某人。 38. 解析:has caught。 39. 解析:under。 解析:more importantly。 Section B

Directions: Complete the following passage by using the words in the box. Each word can only be used once. Note that there is one word more than you need.

A. extensive F. confidence K. decline B. appeals G. delicately C. debated H. efficient D. necessarily I. experienced E. audience J. withdraw A century ago, American political leaders judged public opinions by people's applause and the size of crowds at meeting. This direct exposure to the people's views did not 41 produce accurate knowledge of public opinions. It did, however, give political leaders ___42 in their public support. Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas 43 each other seven times in the summer and autumn of 1858, two years before they became presidential nominees Their debates took place before 44 in cornfields and courthouse squares. A century later most presidential debates, although seen by millions, take place before a few reporters and the technicians in television studios. The public's response cannot be 45 firsthand. This distance between leaders and followers is one of the difficult problems of modern democracy. The media provide information to millions of people, but they are not yet so 46 at providing leaders with feedback from the public. Is government by acclamation (欢呼、欢迎) possible when the scale of communication is so large and impersonal? To make up for the 47 in their ability to experience public opinions for themselves, leaders have turned to science, in particular the science of opinion polling It is no secret that politicians and public officials make 48 use of public-opinion polls to help them decide whether to run for office, what policies to support, how to vote on important issues and types of 49 to make in their campaigns. President Lydon Johnson was famous for carrying the latest Gallup and Roper poll results in his pocket, and it is widely believed that he began to 50 from politics because the polls reported losses in public support. All recent presidents and other major political figures have worked closely with polls.

41-45 DFCEI 46-50 HKABJ 5

45. I

其实此题下一段有提示,47题空格后面“in their ability to experience public opinions”,这里出现了“体验民众的观点。

46. H

所以选A。 49. to make不定式表目的修饰appeals。types of appeals to make,“所做出的各种的呼吁”。如果换成how to vote on important issues and to make types of appeals in their campaigns,此空难度便降低了不少。 50.

II. Guided Writing

Directions: Write an English composition in 120-150 words according to the instructions given below in Chinese.

● 具体描述两幅图;

● 简要分析造成这两种现象的原因;

The picture as shown is a ①satiric but true-to-life drawing. As it is presented, students in the city,②with fertile educational resources and superior material life, ②carry ②so much burden of study and homework that they feel too exhausted to study ②while their ③counterparts in the rural area have so much desire and ambition of learning ②but are forced to standstill ②due to lack of wealth and resources. 7

In fact, ④both the picture and instances in real life point to the fact that students in different areas don’t have the equal opportunity to the same educational resources. ⑤On one hand, the backward teaching facilities and dilapidated school building in rural areas are in sharp contrast to those advanced facilities and well-equipped classrooms in urban areas. ⑤On the other hand, advantageous life resources have spoiled many students in urban cities, ⑥which leads to school-weary. ⑦By contrast, students in rural areas are itching for knowledge because study is their only way to get rid of poverty and status quo.

⑧Such being the case, it is high time that we pondered over the problem and figured out a solution. To change this situation, I believe, the following measures can be taken into consideration. ⑨Firstly, the government should pay more attention on the allocation of public resources. ⑨Secondly, the implementation of the government financial aid system for students should be accelerated so that more students in rural areas can go to school without worrying about their tuition. ⑨Thirdly, education reforms should be sped up to ensure everyone has equal access to schools. ⑨Last but not least, psychological courses are suggested to be set up for students in urban cities to teach them how to deal with pressure and learning-weariness mind.

亮点三:counterpart一个单词替代students in the rural areas,比较简洁。

On one hand, on the other hand,

It is high time that + 一般过去时 表示正是该……

I. Translation

Directions: Translate the following sentences into English, using the words given in the brackets.

(dependent) 2. (ambition) 3. (it) 5. (assure)

1. People have become /been more and more dependent on the Internet. … are becoming … 2. He has a great ambition to be / of being / of becoming an astronaut. 3. Hardly had this kind of cell phone been put / been launched on the market when it attracted/drew/appealed to young people all over/across / throughout the world. 4. Was it in the newly opened restaurant that you witnessed / saw (that) the suspect committed the crime? …saw the suspect commit / committing the crime… 5. She hesitated (whether)to take / have / receive the operation (or not), so she didn’t decide to take it/didn’t make up her mind(to take it)until her doctor assured her that this kind of operation had never failed/ had no case of the operation had ever failed.

本题考到固定短语“be dependent on”、“have a great ambition to be/of doing”、“Hardly倒装句”,“launch on the market”“hesitate to do sth”“commit a/the crime”it的强调句型,时态等。

提示词为dependent,考生要对dependent的词组用法十分熟悉,be dependent on sth。 2. 解析:这句话考察词组用法:have a great ambition to be / of doing,如果此搭配不熟知的话,那么此句的重点就丢失了;注意astronaut的拼写。 3. It was in the newly opened restaurant that you witnessed / saw (that) the suspect committed the crime.

41-45 BDGKA 46-50 IJEHF

本文是一篇关于讲fortunate people in the world的文章。

41. B 解析:首先根据前面“it is often…” 42. D 解析:考察词组 in this respect 在这方面 43. 44. K 解析:“every hour of labor is an hour of……”根据前面every hour of labor可以判断出此空格应为一个成分相对应的名词;根据“envy those happy human beings who find their livelihood in the gay effusions (流露) of their fancy”不难发现此空应为呼应happy human beings的一个单词,因此选择enjoyment。 45.

在EFI里面进行选择,根据后面句意what more is there than that to desire? What does it matter what happens outside?

A篇

66-69 BCAC

The results show that cool temperatures can cause more damage in the short term, but heat is more destructive in the long run. However, over the long term corals subjected to heat suffered more greatly than those in cold,句子说的是:在长期来看,高温中的珊瑚礁受到的伤害要比在低温中更严重。 Not much has been known about the comparative effects of temperature decrease on corals.

Good tool design is important in the prevention of over use injuries. Well-designed tools and equipment will require less force to operate them and prevent awkward hand positions. 第73题位细节题,定位注意事项的第三条,对having a selection of sizes提出了明确要求,该事项最后一句话强调这是一个particularly important consideration for women。所以选A。 C篇

74-77 CDCA

15

More often, we try to get inside the other person to pinpoint his or her attitudes, emotions, motivations, abilities, ideas and characters. Furthermore, we sometimes behave as if we can accomplish this difficult job very quickly---perhaps with a two-second glance. Section C

78. their personal experience 79. The great progress in psychological research 80. Their doubt about the role of science and inadequate science training 81. support their treatment with science

根据题干中的the effectiveness of their treatment锁定文中第一段的…many clinical psychologists fail to “provide the treatments for which there is the strongest evidence of effectiveness” and “give more weight to their personal experiences than to science.”句中give more weight to和题干rely on做同意替换,所以答案是their personal experience. 根据题干中widened the gap 锁定文章第一段最后一句“there is a widening gap 16

between clinical practice and science.” The “widening” reflects the great progress that psychological research has made in identifying (确认) the most effective treatments. The great progress in psychological research. Why in the world not? For one thing, says Baker, clinical psychologists are “very doubtful about the role of science” and “lack solid science training”. Their doubt about the role of science and inadequate science training. When faced with evidence that treatments they offer are not supported by science, clinical psychologists argue that they know better than some study what works.这是一个被动转化为主动的用法,被动treatments are not supported by science转化为主动并得出答案support their treatment with science. I. Translation

Directions: Translate the following sentences into English, using the words given in the brackets.

(…it…) 84. (collect) 85. (full of) 86. (in case)

82. Are you in the mood to take part in the English speech contest? 83. The newly-built hospital has made it more convenient for the people here to see doctors. 84. The fund which was collected in the charity party would be used to set up a community recreation centre for the elderly. 85. The manager is full of experience in hotel management, so he can always effectively deal with complaints from customers. 86. In case you get lost in a forest, the safest way is to stay where you are and try to get in touch with a professional rescue team immediately.

考察到高中阶段的部分语法点和一些固定搭配的应用,像是be in the mood to do sth, make it+adj to do, be full of, in case+条件状语从句,地点状语从句等。

17

82. 本题考察搭配be in the mood to do sth, mood解释为心情时大家应该不陌生,比如I am in a good mood. I am in a bad mood. 此外,mood还能用在be in the mood to do sth表示有兴趣做某事上。 83.本题考make it+adj to do的用法。 The fund which was collected in the charity party这样一句出现了过去时态的定语从句,那么真正的主句时态就应该是过去将来时(would+do)。 85. ②地点状语从句the safest way is to stay where you are。③固定搭配get in touch with sb.

II. Guided Writing

Directions: Write an English composition in 120–150 words according to the instructions given below in Chinese.

Nowadays, the increasing difficulty of various subjects are 1exerting intangible pressure on students in senior high school. 2It is natural that students should encounter some problems in their learning process. Some choose to seek for help from teachers in school, while others are encouraged to solve problems on their own. 3As far as I am concerned, the second mode 4suits me better.

There are three major reasons that can account for my choice. 5First of all, the process of solving problems independently is a process of active learning. In comparison to passive learning, active learning usually leads to longer memory so that students can learn the knowledge by heart. 5In addition, such learning method can help foster independence, which 6is conducive to students’ long-term development. As is known to all, university students are required to have the ability to think and learn independently, so students are more likely to adapt to university life if they choose this way of learning. 5Last but not least, by solving problems by themselves, students 7are prone to achieve more sense of achievement than those who just choose to follow their teachers. 8In conclusion, longer memory, better adaptation in future and more sense of achievement are the three main advantages of independent learning. 9Hence, I prefer this kind of learning to the other and I wish to benefit from it.

亮点一:使用exert pressure on表示施加压力,其中exert相比于have更为生动形象;intangible解释为“无形的”; 亮点二:It is natural that的句型,后面使用虚拟语气; 亮点三:as far as I am concerned引出自己观点;

亮点四:suit解释为“适合”,及物动词的用法让句子简洁有力;

18

亮点五:first of all, in addition, last but not least分别引出三个理由,和three major reasons相呼应,关联词的使用可以让文章结构清晰; 亮点六:be conducive to解释为“有助于”,为高级词汇; 亮点七:be prone to解释为“倾向于”;

亮点八:in conclusion总结第二段提到的三个理由;

We had to climb right up the hill , which is very steep, and ,when close under it , it seemed to be high, but we soon reached the top . When we were there, we had lost sight of the lake; and now our road was over a wild land.____25_____(go) a little way, we saw before us , at the distance of about half a mile, a very large stone building, with a high wall round it , neither field nor tree near. The wild land was overgrown with grey grass that cattle might feed upon. We could not tell ___26_____ this building was. It appeared ___27____ _______ it had been built strong to defend from storms; but for what purpose? William called out to us that we should observe that place well, for it was exactly like one of the shelters of the Alps(阿尔卑斯山), ___28____(build) for the reception of travelers, and indeed I had thought it ____29_____ be so. This building, from its singular structure and appearance, made the place , which is itself in a country ____30_____ Scotland, remarkable. When we ___31____(pass) it and looked back, three pyramidal mountains on the opposite side of Lock Lomond ended the view, ____32_____ in certain kind of weather might be very grand. Our highland companion had not got enough English to give us any information concerning this srange building . What we could only get from her was that it was a \"large house\

25. Having gone/Going 26. what 27. as if/as though 28.built 29. must 30. like 31. passed/had passed 32. which

19

25. 解析:Having gone/Going。 26. 解析:what。 27. 解析:as if/as though。 解析:must。 30. 解析:like。 解析:passed/had passed。 32. 解析:which。

(B) All plants need water to grow. Watering plants seems like a simple task but it actually requires many considerations. For example , plants growing in areas with low rainfall or areas ____33___(expose) to dry wind require more water. On the other hand, plants which have a good adaptation to dry conditions or have the ability to store water in their cells require ___34_____(frequent) watering . The watering of plants should not be viewed as a minor process in gardening ___35______ this task plays an extremely important role in ensuring healthy plant growth. Let's first take a closer look at plants growing in gardens. Since watering is a critical gardening task, ____36___ accessible water supply is vital. A garden tap with a hose of sufficient length to reach the furthest part of the garden ____37_____(prefer). This tends to make watering much easier and ensures adequate water is provided for the plants. Most inexperienced gardeners water little ____38____very frequently. This is undesirable as it encourages shallow root growth. In addition, watering in full sun causes leaves to lose water quickly from the surface of the soil. Therefore, some experts recommend ____39______(install) an automatic watering system. As for plants growing in pots or containers, they tend to lose water rapidly. One way to reduce such a risk is ____40_____(group) the plants close together to keep moisture. Try to move them to a shady place if you are away from home for a few days. Otherwise, you will return home to see your plants dead.

33. exposed 34.less frequent 35. as/for/because/since 36. an 37. is preferred 38. but 39. installing 40. to group

20

根据前面“require more water. On the other hand”可以判断出是在将两种不同情况,前一种是more water,那么后一种很容易就能判断出是填入less frequent water。 35. 解析:as/for/because/since。 36. 解析:an。 37. 解析:is preferred。 A garden tap with a hose of sufficient length to reach the furthest part of the garden整个为主语,with a hose of sufficient length修饰a garden tap, to reach the furthest part of the garden 不定式表目的,根据句意,填入prefer的被动语态形式,表示“被更加喜爱” 38. 解析:but。 解析:to group。

To help determine the 56of attraction, researchers paired 164 college classmates and had them talk for 3, 6 or 10 minutes so they could get a sense of each other’s individuality. Then students were asked to 57what kind of relationship they were likely to build with their partners. After nine weeks, they reported what happened.

Smell, however, does seem to play a part in human attraction.

The way we 64attractiveness seem to be somewhat automatic的这个位置可以清楚得找到这个单词,A选项的意思是情感,C选项的意思是个人,D选项的意思是信号

Seeing something attractive seems to cause happy thinking.

Look to many of history’s cultural symbols, and there you’ll find an ancestor of Frosty, the snowman in the movie Frozen. It appeared on some of the first postcards, starred in some of the earliest silent movies, and was the subject of a couple of the earliest photos, dating all the way ba ck to the 1800s. I discovered even more about one of humanity’s earliest forms of life art during several years of research around the world.

For example. snowmen were a phenomenon in the Middle Ages, built with great skill and thought. At a time of limited means of expression, snow was like free art supplies dropped from the sky. It was a popular activity for couples to leisurely walk through town to view the temporary works of chilly art. Some were created by famous artists, including a 19-year-old Michelangelo, who in 1494 was appointed by the ruler of Florence, Italy, to build a snowman in his mansion’s courtyard.

The Miracle of 1511 took place during six freezing works called the Winter of Death. The city of Brussels was covered in snowmen—

an impressive scene that told stories on every street corner. Some were political in nature, criticizing the church and government. Some were a reflection of people’s imagination. For the people of Brussels, this was a defining moment of defining freedom. At least until spring arrived, by which time they were dealing with damaging floods.

If you fear the heyday of the snowman has passed, don’t worry: I’ve learned that some explosive snowman history is still being made today. Every year since 1818, the people of Zurich, Switzerland, celebrate the beginning of spring by blowing up a snowman. On the third Monday of April, the holiday Sechselauten is kicked off when a cotton snowman called the Boogg is stuffed with explosive and paraded through town by bakers and other tradesmen who throw bread to the crowds. The parade ends with the Boogg being placed on a 40-foot pile of firewood. After the bells of the Church of St.Peter have rung six times, representing the passing of winter, the pile is lit. When the snowman explodes, winter is considered officially over—the quicker it is burnt down, the longer summer is said to be.

66. According to the passage, why did snowmen become a phenomenon in the Middle Ages?

A. People thought of snow as holy art supplies.

B. People longed to see masterpieces of snow.

C. Building snowmen was a way for people to express themselves.

D. Building snowmen helped people develop their skill and thought.

67. “The heyday of the snowman”(paragraph 4) means the time when___________.

A. snowmen were made mainly by artists

B. snowmen enjoyed great popularity

C. snowmen were politically criticized

D. snowmen caused damaging floods

27

68. In Zurich, the blowing up of the Boogg symbolizes__________________.

A. the start of the parade

B. the coming of a longer summer

C. the passing of the winter

D. the success of tradesmen

69. What can be concluded about snowmen from the passage?

A. They were appreciated in history

B. They have lost their value

C. They were related to movies

D. They vary in shape and size

C 67. B 68. C 69. A

At a time of limited means of expression, snow was like free art supplies dropped from the sky.

I’ve learned that some explosive snowman history is still being made today.

Every year since 1818, the people of Zurich, Switzerland, celebrate the beginning of spring by blowing up a snowman.

Directions: Complete the following passage by using the words in the box. Each word can only be used once. Note that there is one word more than you need.

A. access B. alternatives C. assigned D. confirmed E. conflicting F. elements

Considering how much time people spend in offices, it is important that work spaces be well designed. Well-designed office spaces help create a corporation’s image. They motivate workers, and they make an impression on people who visit and might be potential, or41 , customers. They make business work better, and they are a part of the corporate culture we live in.

As we move away from an industrial-based economy to a knowledge-based one, office designers have come up with42 to the traditional work environments of the past. The design industry has moved away from a fixed office setup and created more flexible “strategic management environments.” These 43 solutions are meant to support better organizational performance.

As employee hierarchies (等级制度) have flattened, or decreased, office designers’ response to this change has been to move open-plan areas to more desirable locations within the office and create fewer formal private offices. The need for increased flexibility has also been 44 by changes in workstation design. Offices and work spaces often are not 45 to a given person on a permanent basis. Because of changes to methods of working, new designs allow for expansion or movement of desks, storage, and equipment within the workstation. Another important design goal is communication, which designers have improved by lowering the walls that46 workstations. Designers have also created informal gathering places, and upgraded employees’47 to heavily trafficked areas such as copy and coffee rooms.

Corporate and institutional office designers often struggle to resolve a number of competing and often 48 demands, including budgetary limits, employee hierarchies, and technological innovation (especially in relation to computerization). These demands must also be balanced with the need to create interiors (内饰) that in some way enhance, establish, or promote a company’s image and will enable employees to49 at their best.

All these 50 of office design are related. The most successful office designs are like a good marriage --- that well-designed office and the employees that occupy it are seemingly made for each other.

to后面搭配的是the traditional work environments of the past,traditional和the past按时了这是需要被摒弃掉的内容,符合“排除在外”这个意思。

2015上海高考英语范文(一) Word came that a reading festival would be held by our school and there is a need for a picture for advertisement and I am writing to give my opinion. From my perspective, I am in favor of the picture in the top right corner. As is vividly depicted in that picture, around the table sit three kids with a couple of books in their hands, having a heated discussion about the contents and sharing their thoughts for the themes, which shows their dedication and passion for reading. Basically, several reasons are listed for my preference. First, nothing is more attractive than a proper and realistic picture. This picture serves as an epitome of our daily reading scene in the school and it is apt to let students recall the joy and harvest while reading. Second, this picture stands for the fun of sharing and exchanging ideas. With regard to reading, there is a saying that there are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand people's eyes. After reading, bits and pieces of thoughts will appear in our mind, so it is beneficial to have a better understanding after comparing notes about what we have read. From what is mentioned above, I, undoubtedly, approve of the picture in the top right corner. Thus, I would appreciate it if you could take my proposal into consideration and I wish this festival a complete success. 2015上海高考英语作文范文(二) Recently, having been delighted to see the notice that there is a need of our reading festival to make a choice among three creative 34

pictures for advertisement. After a long time comparison, the picture on the bottom right corner earns my favor.

As is clearly depicted in the picture, there sits a foreigner in front of the library who is concentrating on the books, immersing himself into the world of literature and feeling peaceful and satisfied, which turns out to be thought provoking and enlightening.

Part of the reasons for my choice is that it vividly reveals the significance of reading books to students, which provides you with the power to escape from the hustle and bustle in the metropolis. For instance, whenever you feel puzzled, confused or stressed, you can always refer to books and consequently find peace and satisfactory solutions in them.

I’d, however, perfectly appreciate your considering my selection if you feel that choice and reasons are in lined with your requirements and best wishes for your reading festival.

Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing to…(阐明来信目的) BODY (正文部分) 35

Thanks for your consideration. Yours sincerely, Pan Yang 2.

Scary Bunny

A: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit(2005) is the first full-length feature film made by directors Nick Park and Steve Box with their amazing plasticine(粘土) characters Wallace and Gromit. It won an Oscar in 2006, and if you watch it, you’ll understand why. It’s an absolutely brilliant cartoon comedy.

B: Cheese-loving inventor Wallace and his brainy dog Gromit have started a company to protect the town’s vegetables from hungry rabbits. However, just before the annual Giant Vegetable Competition, an enormous rabbit begins terrorising the town. It is eating all the vegetables and destroying everything in its path. The competition organizer, Lady Tottington, hires Wallace and Gromit to catch the monster alive. But they will have to find the were-rabbit before gun-crazy hunter Victor Quartermaine who is desperate to kill it.

37

C: The screenplay is witty and full of amusing visual jokes. As usual, the voice of Peter Sallis is absolutely perfect for the role of Wallace, and Gromit is so beautifully brought to life, he can express a huge range of emotions without saying a word. And both Helena Bonham-Carter, who plays the part of Lady Tottington, and Ralph Fiennes as Victor are really funny.

D: To sum up, The Curse of the Were-Rabbit is an amazing film which is suitable for both children and adults. If you liked Wallace and Gromit’s previous adventures and you appreciate the British sense of humour, you’ll love this film. Don’t miss it!

A. a gun-crazy hunter B. a brainy dog

A. It’s full of wit and humour.

B. Its characters show feelings without words.

C. It is an adventure film directed by Peter Sallis.

作者之所以力荐这部喜剧片,有一句“you appreciate the British sense of humour”,则选A。

(C)

One of the executives gathered at the Aspen Institute for a day-long leadership workshop using the works of Shakespeare was discussing the role of Brutus in the death of Julius Caesar. “Brutus was not an honorable man,” he said. “He was a traitor (叛徒). And he murdered someone in cold blood.” The agreement was that Brutus had acted with cruelty when other options were available to him. He made a bad decision, they said—at least as it was presented by Shakespeare—to take the lead in murdering Julius Caesar. And though one of the executives acknowledged that Brutus had the good of the republic in mind, Caesar was nevertheless his superior. “You have to endeavor,” the executives said, “our policy is to obey the chain of command.”

During the last few years, business executives and book writers looking for a new way to advise corporate America have been exploiting Shakespeare’s wisdom for profitable ends. None more so than husband and wife team Kenneth and Carol Adelman, well-known advisers to the White House, who started up a training company called “Movers and Shakespeares”. They are amateur Shakespeare scholars and Shakespeare lovers, and they have combined their passion and their high level contacts into a management training business. They conduct between 30 and 40 workshops annually, focusing on half a dozen different plays, mostly for corporations, but also for government agencies.

The workshops all take the same form, focusing on a single play as a kind of case study, and using individual scenes as specific lessons. In Julius Caesar, for example, Cassius’s sly provocation (狡诈的挑唆) of Brutus to take up arms against Caesar was the basis for a discussion of methods of team building and grass roots organising.

Although neither of the Adelmans is academically trained in literature, the programmes, contain plenty of Shakespeare tradition and background. Their workshop on Henry V, for example, includes a helpful explanation of Henry’s winning strategy at the Battle of Agincourt. But they do come to the text with a few biases (偏向): their reading of Henry V minimizes hismisuse of power. Instead, they emphasise the story of the youth who seizes opportunity and becomes a masterful leader. And at the workshop on Caesar, Mr. Adelman had little good to say about Brutus, saying “the noblest Roman of them all” couldn’t make his mind up about things.

Many of the participants pointed to very specific elements in the play that they felt to be related. Caesar’s pride, which led to his pride, and Brutus’s mistakes in leading the traitors after the murder, they said, raised vital questions for anyone serving as when and how do you resist the boss.

73. According to paragraph 1, what did all the executives think of Brutus?

A. Cruel. B. Superior. C. Honorable. D. Rude

74. According to the passage, the Adelmans set up “Movers and Shakespeares” to ________.

A. help executives to understand Shakespeare’s plays better

B. give advice on leadership by analysing Shakespeare’s plays

C. provide case studies of Shakespeare’s plays in literature workshops

D. guide government agencies to follow the characters in Shakespeare’s plays.

39

75. Why do the Adelmans conduct a workshop on Henry V?

A. To highlight the importance of catching opportunities.

B. To encourage masterful leaders to plan strategies to win.

C. To illustrate the harm of prejudices in management.

D. To warn executives against power misuse.

76. It can be inferred from the passage that ____.

A. the Adelmans’programme proves biased as the roles of characters are maximized.

B. executives feels bored with too many specific elements of Shakespeare’s plays.

C. the Adelmans will make more profits if they are professional scholars.

D. Shakespeare has played an important role in the management field.

77. The best title for the passage is _____.

A. Shakespeare’s plays: Executives reconsider corporate culture

B. Shakespeare’s plays: An essential key to business success

C. Shakespeare’s plays: A lesson for business motivation

D. Shakespeare’s plays: Dramatic training brings dramatic results

The agreement was that Brutus had acted with cruelty when other options were available to him.其实就是“what all the executives thought of Brutus”的另一种说法,相当于同意替换。

虽然第二段中没有明确说明,但我们发现这样一句:and they have combined their passion and their high level contacts into a management training business.

Directions: Read the passage carefully. Then answer the questions or complete the statements in the fewest possible words. Youth sport has the potential to accomplish three important objectives in children’s development. First, sport programs can provide youth with opportunities to be physically active, which can lead to improved physical health. Second, youth sport programs have long been considered important to youth’s psychosocial development, providing opportunities to learn important life skills such as cooperation, discipline, leadership, and self-control. Third, youth sport programs are critical for the learning of motor skills; these motor skills serve as a foundation for future national sport stars and recreational adult sport participants. When coachers develop activities for youth practices and when sport organizations design youth-sport programs, they must consider the implication of deliberate play and deliberate practice. Research from Telama (2006) states that regular participation in deliberate play or deliberate practice activities during childhood and youth (ages nine to eighteen) increases the likelihood of participation in sports during adulthood by six times for both males and females. Côté (2002) defines deliberate play activities in sport as those designed to maximize enjoyment. These activities are regulated by flexible rules adapted from standardized sport rules and are set up by the children or by an involved adult. Children typically change rules to find a point where their game is similar to the actual sport but still allows for play at their level. For example, children may change soccer and basketball rules to suit their needs and environment (e.g. in the street. on a playing field or in someone’s backyard). When involved in deliberate play activities, children are less concerned with the outcome of their outcome of their behavior. (whether they win or lose) than with the behavior. (having fun). On the other hand, Ericsson (1993) suggests that the most effective learning occurs through involvement in highly structured activities defined as deliberate practice. Deliberate practice activities require effort, produce no immediate rewards, and are motivated by the goal 41

of improving performance rather than the goal of enjoyment. When individuals are involved in deliberate play, they experiment with different combinations of behaviors, but not necessarily in the most effective way to improve performance. In contrast, when individuals are involved in deliberate practice, they exhibit behavior. focused on improving performance by the most effective means available. For example, the backhand skills in tennis could be learned and improved over time by playing matches or by creating fun practice situations. However, players could more effectively improve their backhand performance by practicing drills that might be considered less enjoyable. Although drills are used in most effective means available practice might not be the most enjoyable, they might be the most relevant to improving performance. (Note: Answer the questions or complete the statements in NO MORE THAN TEN WORDS) 78. Besides the learning of motor skills, what are the other two important objectives of youth sport? 79. If children participate in deliberate play or deliberate practice activities, they are more likely to________________. 80. In deliberate play activities, what do children do to maximize enjoyment? 81. In contrast to deliberate play, deliberate practice is aimed at____________.

It has been recently suggested that youth sport has the potential to accomplish three important objectives in children’s development.

Improved physical health and psychosocial development. 我们锁定文章第二段第一句话regular participation in deliberate play or deliberate practice activities during childhood and youth increases the likelihood of participation in sports during adulthood by six times for both males and females.题目中出现的are more likely to和文中的increases the likelihood of的同义词组替换,得出答案participate in sports during adulthood.需要注意are more likely to后面跟动词原形。 我们锁定文章第二段中defines deliberate play activities in sport as those designed to maximize enjoyment. For example, children may change soccer and basketball rules to suit their needs and environment,经过整理,得出答案 They change rules to suit their needs and their environment.. 根据关键词on the other hand转折一下,我们锁定文章第三段中In contrast, when individuals are involved in deliberate practice, they exhibit behavior. focused on improving performance by the most effective means available.注意题目中的is aimed at和文章中的focused on做同意替换,他们表达的意思一致,所以得出答案improving performance.

45

本题考到固定短语“become popular”、“couldn’t wait any longer”、“to one’s appreciation”,属于基础性短语。

2. 解析: 主要解决四个短语,一大早译为in the early morning, 迫不及待做某事译为can’t wait to do sth.,另外堆雪人和打雪仗译为make a snowman and play/fight with snow。 轮到某人做某事是固定句型 it is sb’s turn to do sth. 4. Much to our appreciation这个短语应该不难想到,类似的搭配很多,to one’s surprise/delightment/diappiontment等等,此句主句比较复杂,含有现在分词做后置定语,同时白手起家创立公司,这个翻译比较灵活,set up his own company from nothing.

(C) When a patient calls for help at Seton Medical Center, “Hi, Mr. Rogers, can I help you?” says a nurse; it’s never a problem finding the nurse. It’s because they all wear locator tags that are part of a wireless system that tracks their movements on the floor. “You can even tell when they are walking down the hallway.” says James Hattori. This system made by Hill-Rom uses infrared(红外线的)signals to detect when nurses enter a room to answer a call. The Hill-Rom devices look like a mini computer mouse. Some hospitals are putting them in nurses’ kitchens. Staff can talk and listen through a wall unit to nurses or even to patients in other rooms. “We can put the time we were spending hunting staff down, trying to find and locate them to much better use,” says a staff member from Seton. Hill-Rom says it has 46

systems installed in more than 850 U.S. hospitals.

Some nurses worry that the devices will be used to listen in on conversations

and scrutinize their movements. “I’m not wearing mine. I will still meet my patient’s needs but I will not wear this badge.” Annette Bearden is among dozens of nurses at Eden Medical Center who staged an active protest two months ago and hid their badges though they were later recovered. “You know it makes me not feel like a professional. It makes me feel like that someone has to watch me to make sure I am doing my job.”

“The biggest reason we installed this technology is because our old call system is about 25 years old,” says a hospital manager. For hospitals this is a case of technology allowing, perhaps forcing people to better make use of their time. Officials at Eden don’t deny they monitor how long it takes nurses to respond to calls but say their main concern is patient care. “I think it is one tool that we can use in measuring overall performance but by itself it is not a valid disciplinary tool,” says an Eden spokesperson.

Eden is expanding its system with hopes the nurse will eventually accept the new technology, but back at Seton where it’s been in place for about two years, there is no uneasiness. “Once the staff actually find out how advantageous it can be for them and the patients, well, actually it became very popular.”

In Castro Valley, California, the Eden Medical Center spent almost three hundred thousand dollars to install the Hill-Rom systems on two floors. Eden hopes to get more of the systems for other floors.

73. Why is it easy to find a nurse at Seton Medical Center?

A. The nurses are on television.

B. The nurses wear locator badges.

C. Every patient has his/her own nurse.

D. Each room has a telephone.

74. How can the staff talk to their patients when they are not in the same room?

A. With hand signals. B. Through microphones in the pocket.

C. Through a wall unit. D. With infrared signals on the doors.

75. According to the passage, the underlined word “scrutinize” (paragraph 3) probably means _______.

47

A. watch closely B. see inside C. scan word by word D. make right 76. How did the nurses at Eden Medical Center react to the badges? A. The nurses really liked the badges. B. They threw the locator badges away. C. They refused to work. D. They protested and concealed the badges. 77. According to the administrators of the hospital, Eden Medical Center, the application of the Hill-Rom devices mainly aims at _______. A. introducing modern technology B. adding a tool for discipline C. replacing the old call system D. improving the service for patients

首先定位题干中所提及easy to find a nurse at Seton Medical Center在第一段,根据原文 it’s never a problem finding the nurse. It’s because they all wear locator tags that are part of a wireless system that tracks their movements on the floor. 定位技术来自于locator badges 第74题是细节题,关键词是 when they are not in the same room,定位在第二段第三四句 Staff can talk and listen through a wall unit to nurses or even to patients in other rooms.

第75题是推测词义题,scrutinize所在段落第三段第二行,根据后文“You know it makes me not feel like a professional. It makes me feel like that someone has to watch me to make sure I am doing my job.” 第76题是细节判断题,关键词是react to the badges,定位在第三段,对于护士的描述“I’m not wearing mine. I will still meet my patient’s needs but I will not wear this badge.” Annette Bearden is among dozens of nurses at Eden Medical Center who staged an active protest two months ago and hid their badges though they were later recovered. Officials at Eden don’t deny they monitor how long it takes nurses to respond to calls but say their main concern is patient care说明医疗中心并不否认他们通过定位带掌控护士响应呼叫铃的时间,但他们的主要的担心还是在病患的治疗照顾上,故选择D。

Directions: Read the following three passages. Each passage is followed by several questions or unfinished statements. For each of them there are four choices marked A, B, C and D. Choose the one that fits best according to the information given in the passage you have just read.

(A) ① The past year, which is fast becoming just a memory, is the year I drove through the car wash at fifty miles an hour. At least, it felt like fifty miles an hour. ② That day I followed the attendant’s instructions, drove to one of those do-it-yourself car washes. I forgot that my car was a bit moody. I’d been meaning to have it checked, but it didn’t happen often enough to rush me to the garage. Anyway, then unexpectedly, suddenly we picked up speed before the astonished eyes of the attendant. The car shot through the wash cycle, the wax(蜡)cycle, and the dry cycle at a ridiculous rate of speed, and then aimed for the street at the end of the tunnel. We shot through the tunnel with what seemed like the speed of sound and rushed out into the street while I was relieved to see that no cars were approaching. The water and the wax had not yet dried — the car looked as if it had caught some terrible disease. ③ “What happened then?” Bobbie asked after I had told my family the story at an evening meal. ④ “Nothing,” I said. ⑤ “Didn’t you go back to the car wash?” ⑥ “Of course not,” I replied. 52

⑦ “I don’t blame you,” Peter said. “They might have arrested you for speeding in a car wash.”

⑧ We all laughed. It was a nice moment. We were relaxing after the dishes had been taken away, the pleasant smell of coffee filling the air. We had been talking about the past year and, without pausing to think of the possible consequences, I had told them about my experience with the car wash.

⑨ The story delighted the children — who are no longer children. Peter and Bobbie are married, in fact, and I realized I had given them a sort of philosophy of life for the future. I could imagine them, years from now, when they gather together and one of them will say, “Remember the time Dad drove through that car wash …?”

⑩ Other things happened last year, too, because each year has its events, the good and the bad, the sweet and the sorrowful, the ordinary and the terrific. The milestones and the small incidents stand side by side, fundamentally different in quality or kind, perhaps, but making a sweet kind of harmony.

A. disorder B. diseases C. storms D. conflict

67. Which of the following is NOT included in Paragraph 8?

A. The subject of the discussion. B. The atmosphere of the family talk.

C. The time when the talk occurred. D. The reason for the car to lose control.

68. Which of the following can serve as the title of the passage?

53. D

解析:根据“你要做好准备,采取措施,防止孩子的情绪爆发”,推测孩子正处于情绪低潮期,固定搭配be in low spirits;

54. B

56. A

59. A

42. J 解析:定冠词the 后面用名词,后面定语从句中的谓语含有on这个介词,根据搭配have effect on sth 所以选effect。 59

44. C 解析: on their services is very important。 Customers in particular are able to 45 with the staff on the other end,此处填动词,又要求与with搭配,故填interact, 意为互动。 46. The role of most knowledge managers is to ensure that information is kept current, accurate and 46 ,观察此空前面两个形容词,为并列结构,故此处填形容词,根据句意,填consistent,意为“一致性的”。 47. E 解析: 原句是as we 47 into the future. 48. G 解析:At the moment, 48 information that passes through these systems can be run through different forms. 49. D 解析: There was a time when such information was 49 document- based. 50. I 解析:The most efficient knowledge base management systems in the market at the moment are built with the 50 to handle all kinds of information。

63

25. 解析:the。 26. 解析:was paying。 此处的when翻译成“突然,正当此时”,这种句型应使用固定形式:”sb was doing sth when sb. did sth” 表示的是某人正在做某事时突然发生了什么。 27. 解析:to greet。 28. 解析:who。 30. 解析: after/behind。 31. 解析: most unforgettable。 后面有比较的范围 “in her 12 years of working” 。 32.

II. Guided Writing

Directions: Write an English composition in 120-150 words according to the instructions given below in Chinese.

(Are students learning enough in school?)

 你的观点;

It is universally acknowledged that students learn in school. However, there is a heated discussion on whether students are learning enough in school. Some believe that lessons in school have already occupied most time of studying while others argue that learning is a lifelong issue and school is far from enough. Personally, I am for the latter. On one hand, learning is not merely about taking lessons and exams in school. It could take place everywhere. For instance, one can know much about a city’s history through travelling, explore the essence of four major masterpieces in books and admire the boundless and great universe from the impeccable pictures and videos through media.

On the other hand, learning cannot be measured by time. School is a threshold for students to learn in the future. It is a place where students are taught how to approach to knowledge, not how to get as much know-how as possible. Considering the span of study in school and the immensity of knowledge, we are incapable of learning it all in school, aren’t we?

To put all into a nutshell, learning, a process which lasts immortally not only in length but also in width, will never be enough. We shouldn’t define learning to be a status occurring only in school. Instead, we should always bear in mind that live and learn, as the old saying goes.

亮点一:用强调句“It is universally acknowledged that”开头,吸引注意力;

亮点二:there is a heated discussion on 对……话题激烈讨论;

亮点三:Some……while others…… 方便引出不同观点;

亮点四:Personally, I am for the latter. 过渡句,引出下文。the former…the latter…前者…后者;

亮点五:on one hand…on the other… 一方面,另一方面,清晰地陈述观点;

亮点六:for instance 举例说明,引出认为学习不只是发生在学校的理由;

亮点七:a threshold for……的门槛,词组灵活运用;

亮点八:It is a place where…… 定语从句指出学校不是拼命给学生塞知识而是教会学生们如何学校的地方;

亮点九:非谓语结构,注意逻辑主语要与动作一致;

Section C

Directions: Read the passage carefully. Then answer the questions or complete the statements in the fewest possible words.

It was early in the afternoon of May 10, 1996. I hadn’t slept in 57 hours. The only food I had been able to force down over the proceeding three days was a bowel of soup. Weeks of violent coughing had made ordinary breathing a bitter process. At 29,028 feet up in the troposphere(气体对流), so little oxygen was reaching my brain that my mental capacity was that of a slow child. Under the circumstances, I was incapable of feeling much of anything except cold and tired.

I’d arrived on the summit a few minutes after Anatoli Boukreev, a Russian climbing guide working for an American commercial expedition, and just ahead of Andy Harris, a guide on the New Zealand-based team to which I belonged. Although I just met Boukreev, I had come to know and like Harris well during the proceeding six weeks. I snapped four quick photos of Harris and Boukreev striking summit poses, then turned and headed down. My watch read 1:17 p.m. I’d spent less than five minutes on the roof of the world.

A moment later, I paused to take another photo, this one looking down the Southeast Eidge, the route we had chosen to go up. Training my lens(镜头)on a pair of climbers approaching the summit, I noticed something that until that moment had escaped my attention. To the south, where the sky had been perfectly clear just an hour earlier, a blanket of clouds now hid the peaks surrounding Everest. Later, after six bodies had been located, after a search for two others had been abandoned, after surgeons had removed the rotten right hand of my teammate Beck Weathers, people would ask why, if the weather had begun to worsen, had climbers on the upper mountain not observed the signs? Why did experienced Himalayan guides keep moving upward, leading a gang of relatively inexperienced amateurs — each of whom had paid as much as $65,000 to be taken safely up Everest — into an apparent death trap?

Nobody can speak for the leaders of the two guided groups involved, because both men are dead. But I can assure that nothing I saw early on the afternoon of May 10th suggested that a murderous storm was bearing down. To my oxygen-exhausted mind, the clouds drifting up the grand valley of ice known as the Western Cwm(西库姆冰斗) looked so friendly and innocent in the brilliant midday sun, not different from the harmless puffs(喷烟)that rose from the valley almost every afternoon.

As I began my descent I was extremely anxious, but my concern had little to do with the weather: a check of the meter on my oxygen tank had revealed that it was almost empty. I needed to get down, fast.

(Note: Answer the questions or complete the statements in NO MORE THAN EIGHT WORDS.)

79. Besides the change of the weather, what else led to the expedition team’s falling into a death trap?

答案就藏着“I’d arrived on the summit a few minutes after Anatoli Boukreev, a Russian climbing guide working for an American commercial expedition, and just ahead of Andy Harris, a guide on the New Zealand-based team to which I belonged.” “a Russian climbing guide”和“a guide on the New Zealand-based team to which I belonged.”

“if the weather had begun to worsen, had climbers on the upper mountain not observed the signs? Why did experienced Himalayan guides keep moving upward, leading a gang of relatively inexperienced amateurs— each of whom had paid as much as $65,000 to be taken safely up Everest — into an apparent death trap?”

80.解析:此题不难,指代题,答案不是在上文就是下文,根据题目要求,我们来看一下带有划线的这句句子“To my oxygen-exhausted mind, the clouds drifting up the grand valley of ice known as the Western Cwm(西库姆冰斗) looked so friendly and innocent in the brilliant midday sun, not different from the harmless puffs(喷烟)that rose from the valley almost every afternoon.” 根据and前面部分的语法成分分析,the clouds drifting up the valley of ice为主语,与划线部分恰好是并列关系,所以答案就自然而然出来了。

67

题目第二个信息点“climbed down fast”,这个我们可以在最后一段“a check of the meter on my oxygen tank had revealed that it was almost empty. I needed to get down, fast.”中发现,是因为“oxygen tank is almost empty”。

首先强调句结构 “it is(was)…that/who” ;那个轻生的男子,需要处理为定语从句,翻译为 “the man who tried to kill himself/ commit suicide”; 不顾 “without considering”. 4. 就 “No sooner had sb. done sth. than sb. did sth.”; 多年不见的小学同学可以处理成定语从句,翻译为 “(whom) I hadn’t seen for ages/years.”; 5. 首先“无论谁想要成功”用主语从句 “Whoever wants to be successful”。

Financial setbacks in the form. of pay cuts are having a trickle-down effect as the depression persists. Families across America

are cutting or even axing kids’ allowances to reflect what’s going on with household finances and the economy as a whole.

Some jobless parents are doing it out of necessity. Other parents are using allowance adjustments to teach children about economic realities and how to budget in learner times.

“Try to use relevant news to explain the reasons behind the depression and how it’s hitting home. If they see it obvious in their own allowance, they’ll feel the impact and see how it all ties in,” says financial consultant Antwone Harris.

Any reduction in allowance should be understood in age-appropriate communication, says Dr. Tony Meyer, a child psychiatrist and medical director of Aurora Psychiatric Hospital. Six- to 12- year- olds are mature enough for a frank talk, but don’t set them back with a lot of details. It’s sufficient to say their allowance is lower because Mom and Dad is getting paid less at work, so there’s less money for the family to spend. With 12- to 18- year-olds, you can broaden the discussion to include the banking crisis and other factors that contributed to the depression, Meyer says. Younger kids have the idea that they’re at the center of things, and adolescents by nature are especially self-concerned. “They’ll think they’re responsible,” Meyer says.

A cut in allowance might seem punishing, so the message that the child is not at fault needs to come across. Depending on the child’s age, “You can also ask them to bring some income by working a job or helping more around the house so Mom or Dad can work more,” he says. Kids can also contribute by means of taking over landscaping services previously done by a paid professional. “You’ll pay lower rates, and the money stays in the family,” financial consultant Antwone Harris remarks. Meyer also suggests implementing a stimulant program to cut household expenses. Anyone who comes up with a cost-cutting idea gets 10 percent of the savings.

That why, they’ll come to understand that a paycheck only goes so far, and decisions and sacrifices are part of responsible money management.

80. including / mentioning the banking crisis and other (contributing) factors

81. taking over landscaping services and contributing / producing / having / getting cost-cutting ideas

而文中的答案是“banking crisis and other factors that contributed to the depression”,但是字数也超过了8个单词,故需要重组一下答案,可以把一些单词省去,变成“mentioning the banking crisis and other (contributing) factors”便可以符合字数要求。

70

定位之后可以找到“taking over landscaping services”和“comes up with a cost-cutting idea”但是合并在一起时字数又超了3个单词,所以要重组一下答案,于是发现我们可以找一个近义词替换掉“comes up with”,比如“contributing / producing / having / getting”这些动名词都可以代替“comes up with”。

53. 解析:A。

55. 解析:A。

59. 解析:A。

原句为“Otherwise, the person would not commit the crime 60 .”

When young people begin to live independently, home-hunting can involve some stress. But they would do well to remember that a new 41 is available---micro-homes.

Fondly called \"tiny houses\Generally under 50 square meters, most tiny houses

Besides an attractive appearance, tiny houses can also 43 unique practical features. Making the best of urban space, the 72-to 122-centimeter-wide Keret House in Warsaw, the world’s narrowest home, filled in an alley(小巷). The sample home Ecocapsule uses solar power, wind power and rainwater collection to enable its owner to live practically anywhere. A system of rails allows the DALE micro-home to 44 room size and number as well as adding the option of an open or 45 courtyard.

As visually 46 as micro-homes are, there are a few disadvantages to consider before getting comfortable on a minicouch. Moving into a tiny house requires the 47 of most non-essentials, no matter the emotional connection to them. Guests will also mostly be out of the question as the limited space may even cause a(n) 48 individual to experience some cabin fever. And finally, a micro-home is likely a temporary living option for most people since they will probably start families and acquire more 49 .

Though the limitation will scare some, there is usually a benefit. A small size results in a small price tag and small bills, making tiny houses easier to save up for and 50 .

此空后面紧接着one or two people,并且该句的主语是most tiny houses,所以该空填此词。

47. 解析:elimination。该空处在“the ______ of sth.” 原句中sth为“non-essentials”,表示“非必需用品”,根据句意“Moving into a tiny house requires the 47 of most non-essentials,”搬到一个微型住宅里,需要______非必需品,根据意思,应该填一个表示“丢弃、排除”的意思,故elimination正好表达此意,故为答案。

原句“as the limited space may even cause

a(n) 48 individual to experience some cabin fever.”
