They are designed to meetthe requirements of TIA/EIA-422-B,TIA/EIA-423-B, TIA/EIA-485-A, and several ITUrecommendations. The standards are forbalanced multipoint bus transmission at rates upto 10 megabits per second. The four receiversshare two OR enable inputs, one active whenhigh, the other active when low. These devicesfeature high input impedance, input hysteresis forincreased noise immunity, and input sensitivity of±200 mV over a common-mode input voltagerange of –12 V to 12 V. Fail-safe design specifiesthat if the inputs are open circuited, the outputs arealways high. The SN65173 and SN75173 aredesigned for optimum performance when usedwith the SN75172 or SN75174 quad differentialline drivers.1A1BNCVCC4B1YGNC2Y2A4567832120191817161514910111213TIA/EIA-422-B, TIA/EIA-423-B, andTIA/EIA-485-A and ITU RecommendationsV.10, V.11, X.26, and X.27Designed for Multipoint Bus Transmissionon Long Bus Lines in Noisy Environments3-State OutputsCommon-Mode Input Voltage Range of–12 V to 12 VInput Sensitivity... ±200 mVInput Hysteresis...50 mV TypHigh Input Impedance...12 kΩ MinOperate From Single 5-V SupplyLow Power RequirementsPin-to-Pin Replacement for AM26LS32SN55173...JPACKAGESN65173, SN75173...D OR N PACKAGE(TOP VIEW)1B1A1YG2Y2A2BGND1234 5678161514131211109VCC4B4A4YG3Y3A3BSN55173...FK PACKAGE(TOP VIEW)4A4YNCG3YNC–No internal connectionTHE SN55173 IS NOT RECOMMENDEDFOR NEW DESIGNS.The SN55173 is characterized over the full military temperature range of –55°C to 125°C.
