Sample Answer:

Instead of being conducted by private companies, some people think that scientific research must be managed and monitored by the governments. I personally believe that private companies should be given their own freedom in doing research, but with sufficient and proper monitoring from the governments.

On the one hand, it is true that scientific research should not be only conducted by the governments. The main reason is that the scope of scientific research is varies and wide, and private companies could cover up some researches which are not carried out by the governments. Many private institutions or individuals discoveries’ are useful for humanity, as we can learn from the past. For example, Thomas Alva Edison was an individual inventor who found some many valuable tools for human beings, such as the bulb light. We should notice that the invention was not the main focus of the

government’s research during that time, and thanks to Edison we have electric light today.

On the other hand, although private companies are given the right to do scientific

research, they must be strictly monitored by the governments. They must be controlled, as some of them might be doing illegal researches. For example, some companies might focus on developing biochemical weapons, and it could threat the world peace. It is the governments’ task to prevent and block these kinds of researches.

In conclusion, I do not agree if scientific research should only be conducted by the governments. It is a fact that the scope of scientific research is wide, therefore private companies should be allowed in doing research. However, I do agree if researches that are done by private companies must be reviewed, and monitored by the governments, in order to avoid any misappropriation.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience. Write at least 250 words. Model Answer 1:

Robots are likely to become as ubiquitous as the smartphone computers

we all carry in our future society. While some people argue that robots might have negative impacts in future society, personally I believe that the benefits of the robot are likely to outweigh the negative aspects of it.

On the one hand, there are two main reasons why it could be argued that robots might have adverse effects on society in the future. Firstly, some people believe that robots will have a negative impact on the human

workforce. The people will be replaced by machines and this will increase the unemployment rate. As a result, many other problems may emerge such as poverty and increased crimes. Secondly, people will become more dependent on robots in their daily life and this may harmfully affect their skills as cooking and driving. So people become less active and this may result in some health problems like obesity.

On the other hand, I would agree with those who argue that robots will play important positive roles in future society. The first role is that robots could operate in locations that humans cannot reach such as exploration of the outer space. They can be act as extended eyes for humans enabling them to look beyond their visual boundaries. Moreover, robots will be used

inside the human bodies for monitoring their health and undertake surgery. The second role that will be played by robots is the helping of elderly and retired people with their daily life activities like cooking and cleaning.

Finally, robots could do normal jobs quickly unlike human beings. Robots don not complain or get distracted or tired. They readily work twenty four hours and require minimal maintenance.

In conclusion, there are convincing arguments both for in and against the role of robots in our future would, but I believe that the robots will add many benefits to the future society.

How important do you think people want to be successful in life? Is an ambition a good or bad characteristic?

It is common for us to hear friends or families talking about the desire to thrive in life. This essay will discuss the importance of success and whether being ambitious is a positive or negative trait.

I suppose the driving force to succeed plays a crucial role in our life. This is because it encourages us to constantly put in our best efforts, stretching our boundaries so that we could achieve more in our life. Without ambition, chances are that, we would be lazy and slack at work, hardly could we live a better life.

I believe that ambition contributes to our success if it is used properly. Setting up phenomenal goals can stimulate us to work both efficiently and effectively. If people’s goals are moderate, they will not have the urge and hunger to

improve themselves, preventing them from making tremendous progress. For example, students who are easily satisfied with an average grade would put in minimal work in their studies. Moreover, people with a go-getter

attitude have a clear mindset, avoiding to be deterred from targets even when they face failure.

Admittedly, being too ambitious can cause multiple problems for both people and the society. Firstly, those who are too focused on being triumphant and achieving their goals will not be too concerned about the impact on other people. Therefore, their actions can be detrimental to other people’s

wellbeing. Secondly, if they are not able to realize their dreams, they might suffer from negative emotions such as depression, anxiety and other mental problems. However, those risks are less likely to happen.

To sum up, it is imperative for us to have the willingness to become successful, however, we need to utilize our ambition in a proper way.

A growing number of people feel that animals should not be exploited by people and that they should have the same rights as humans, while others argue that humans must employ animals to satisfy their various needs, including uses for food and research.

Discuss both views and give your opinion. Content Top

Give reasons from your own experience and examples where relevant. Sample Answer 1:

It has become a debatable topic about the exploitation of animals by

mankind. Some people believed that animals should not be exploited and should be treated fairly by human beings. In contrast, others think animals should be utilized to assist humans in various kinds of ways, such as the source of food or for medical testing. The following essay will discuss about both views in details, but in my personal opinion, I believe that animals can be used as the source of food or to assists human beings in the proportionate way and human should treat them properly.

On the one hand, a group of people believe that mankind does not have the rights to exploit animals, as they are also living creatures. It is true that animals live by following their instinct, but they have the same feeling as human beings, therefore it would not be fair for mankind to exploit them. In several cases, it has been reported that some of the cows had cried before they were slaughtered in the slaughter house, which means that they also had the same feeling as human beings. In another reported cases, some of the animals was treated poorly by their masters, though they had been exploited heavily and made them sick or injured.

On the other hand, it is undeniable that mankind need the assistant of

animals in various kinds of ways. Firstly, some animals are needed by

humans to assist them in producing and providing foods. In many countries, cows, buffalos or horses are used by farmers to cultivate their farming areas, and some dairy farms animals such as chicken and sheep are slaughtered for their meats. Without the existence of these animals, there would be a humanity issue about the lack of food supplies and starvation for mankind. Secondly, some animals are used in certain scientific experiments or medical testing for the sake of humanity. Several new drugs are being tested in some mice or monkeys before they are being tested on human beings. Although it might seem as an inhuman act, but these experiments have save thousands of human lives.

In conclusion, people have different opinions about the exploitation of

animals. Some people agree with the statement but others disagree with it. In my opinion, I think the employment or the usage of animals to help human beings is not a problem, as long as we exploit them in the proportionate way. For example, as many farmers use dogs as their assistant in their field and the dogs should be treated and fed properly.
