本单元是人教版新目标英语七年级下册一个重要的单元。本单元教学内容是初中英语学习的一个非常重要的单元.具有非常重要的地位。学好本单元将对学生在今后的学习奠定良好的基础,对学生的学习起着承上启下的作用。教材的内容和学生的生活和兴趣紧密联系,学生学习过程中不会感到枯燥乏味,相反的,他们会积极主动的参与各种学习任务中来。教材中还设计了一些具有交际意义的任务和活动,这些活动会对培养学生的语言能力和交际能力起到积极的作用。本节课是Unit 8 Is there a post office near here? 中的第一课时,主要学习方位介词表示建筑物之间的位置关系,通过问路和指路句型的学习来培养学生的口语交际能力。 学情分析:
优势:七年级的学生有较强的求知欲和表现欲。他们自信心很足,思维活跃,记忆和模仿能力比较强。他们也掌握了一些语言基础知识,能运用所学语言进行简单的交际。
劣势:他们没有丰富的语言基础,知识拓展和综合语言运用能力有待于提高。有些学生缺少自信,不愿意表现自己,还有一部分学生基础比较差,参与课堂学习的积极性不高。所以课前预习显得尤为重要。在新课之前,我布置了预习任务,要求学生对本节课的单词提前学习,会读和拼写并能说出汉意。 教学重点、难点:
课标要求学生要掌握方位介词的用法和运用所学语言知识进行简单的英语口语教际。教材分析中指出本节课的主要内容就是学习建筑物名称和方位介词的用法。所以通过课标和教材的分析确定本课的教学重点是:于方位介词来表示建筑物之间的位置关系。
课标要求学生能学以致用,提高综合语言运用能力。但是从学情分析中可以看出学生没有丰富的语言基础,综合语言运用能力不强。学生没有真实的语言环境去练习。他们的口语交际能力还需要不断提高。所以根据课标内容和学情分析,我确定本课的难点是运用所学语言知识进行指路和问路的口语交际。 学习目标: 1. Knowledge aims:
(1) words and expressions: post office, police station, hotel, restaurant, bank, hospital, pay phone ,street, next to,across from, in front of,behind. (2) Sentences:
A: Is there a hospital near here? B: Yes, there is. it’s on Bridge Street. A: Where’s the bank?
B: It’s across from/in front of/behind/next to / near the library. 2.Ability aims :
(1) Help the students to learn to ask for and give directions on the street. (2) Improve the ability of working in groups 3. Emotion aim:

Ask the students to play a game “Find your friend”.
T: I have some words cards in my hand. Some are the English names of the places and some are the Chinese names of the places.

T: point at a student who hold a card of post office and ask “Is there a post office near here? S: Yes, there is.
T: Where is the post office? This is Center Street. S: It’s on Center Street.
T: Today we learn Unit 8 Is there a post office near here? Write the title on the Blackboard. And ask the students to read it three times. Step 3 Presentation
1. Ask the students to look at the pictures to spell and read the words. Then read after the teacher.
2. Present the prepositions of the directions: on, in, under, behind,
across from, in front of , between... and.... Students look at the pictures and ask and answer about the pictures in pairs. Step 4. Practice
Ask the students to work in small groups and write the sentences down in the exercise books. They can write like this “ The hospital is on Bridge Street/ near the police station.
?Then ask the students to show their writings in front of the class. Students read the sentences by themselves and translate them into Chinese. Choose the best group who did well and praise.
Step 5 Role-play the conversation
Ask the students to read and translate the conversation in pairs. Then ask them to work in pairs to practice the conversation. At last, students ask and answer about the conversation in the front of the classroom.? Step 6. Summary
Ask the students to sum up what he or she has learned from this class.
Then the teacher tell them to remember “Help others, enjoy yourself.” Ask the students to learn to help others because “Helping others is helping ourselves.” Step 7. Exercise
Ask the students to finish the exercises by themselves and at last check out the answers. Step 8 Homework
