摘要： Devices, eg a test paper web, and methods using such devices to determine thepresence of an analyte in a fluid. One embodiment uses a device containing a first reagentcapable of reacting with the analyte to produce a detectable reaction product whichcomprises an impregnated support member with a first catalyst, eg an enzyme, in theproduction of detectable product and compensating means for inhibiting the firstcatalyst. The devices of this invention can also be impregnated with an indicator reagentand a second catalyst for the production of a compound which absorbs visible lightthereby facilitating detection. In one embodiment, the compensation means inhibit thesecond catalyst. The devices may also be impregnated with a known amount of a reagentquantification which consumes the detectable reaction product. The device can harbormore than one zone containing these components, at least two zones may containdifferent amounts of the quantification reagent for use of the device for quantitativeanalyzes. Embodiments of this invention can be used in various specific binding assays, egfor different immunoassays or as DNA probes. Many analytes of clinical interest can beanalyzed using these devices and methods, including blood enzymes, substrates for
enzymatic antigens, haptens and other substances.
