T: Do you feel nervous when you talk to lots of people? Do you feel nervous when you are in a show? Do you feel nervous before important exams? Like end-of-year exams. Stage 2. Pre-reading Task 1. Presentation 1. T: Alan

always gets nervous before he gets his report card. The night before

getting the report card, he was too worried to sleep. In the end he fell asleep and had a dream.

3. Converse teachers’ comments on Alan’s behaviors from Direct Speech into Indirect Speech. Present the new word: semester

4. T: What did Alan’s teachers say on his report card ? Let’s find them out from his letter to his grandma. The letter is in the envelope, and his grandma got the mail today.

Stage 3. While-reading Task1. First reading

Read through the letter and get the main idea. Task2. Second reading

Read again and complete Alan’s report card on the work sheet. Task3. Third reading

Read the letter for the third time and write “T” or “F” for the statements. Stage 4. Post-reading

Paraphrase the letter into a short passage by filling in the blanks. Task2. Key points

1. Guide students to write a letter. They are supposed to choose one of the two tasks(Task3 and Task4 on the work sheet) to do the writing

2. Give students some time to share their writings in groups.(因班级人数还不知道,小组人数还无法确定)

3. Invite 2 students to read their writings aloud. One is task3, and the other is task4.

Stage 5. Conclusion

Count the numbers and decide which group is the winner. Comment on the work of each group and give encouragements to them. Present my idea: Praises, encouragements, as well as criticism make us better.
