Kevin Wayne Durant, born on September 29,1988 in Washington,D.C., is an American profe ssional basketball player for the Oklahoma City Thunder of the NBA.A 6'9\"small forward who is also capable of playing power forward, Durant was the consensus 2007 National Colle ge Player of the Year, in addition to being selected as the 2006-2007 Big 12 Player of the Ye ar, amongst other awards. After his freshman season at the University of Texas, Durant opte d to enter the NBA Draft, where he was selected second overall by the Seattle SuperSonics.
There he went on to win the NBA Rookie of the Year Award after his debut season. In 2007, Durant signed an endorsement contract with Nike. He is nicknamed Durantula primarily du e to his extensive reach and long wingspan.
