项脊轩志原文及翻译

项城西南有项脊山，山下有脊水，水又北流注于淮，淮水东注，逕至海。周围二十里，地势颇为奇特。山有二峰相对，峰间有缺口，如刀劈，中皆冠阜，又如镰切，有如屏障，周围通透。每至冬末春初，山下水涨，莫能涉。沿途多亭台楼阁，及村落屋舍。而与此相比较，仍不过尔尔，不足道也。

时为鸣皋之会，天寒地冻，无事可为，乃与故人俱往游观。于是，步入广厦，豁然开朗，顿觉疲倦俱消。轩因此名——项脊轩。其轩，盖云游之所居也。半岩半壁，形胜杳奇。上有屋，下有楼，前臨小池，后傍山势。弹琴高歌，放歌之声，四野皆闻，而流人不厌其烦。

The Cottage of Xiangji

To the South-west of Xiangcheng lies Xiangji Mountain. At the foot of the mountain is a stream that flows north into the Huai River which, in turn, flows east to empty into the ocean. It is an area of about 20 li and is very peculiar. There are two peaks facing each other with a gap cut through them like a cleft made by a knife in the center. Both peaks have high ridges which resemble crowns and the peaks look like a screen. The whole area is quite open. In the late winter and early spring, the water in the stream along the foot of the mountain rises to such a level that it becomes impassable. There are many pavilions and terraces and houses in the villages scattered along the way. However, as nice as they are, they fail to compare with Xiangji Cottage in the vicinity.

It was at the Steaming-Rice-Grain Congregation when the weather was so cold that people had nothing to do that it was decided to visit the place with some friends. As soon as they stepped into the cottage, tiredness was immediately forgotten and spirits were lifted. The cottage was subsequently named Xiangji Cottage. It was designed for a portable dwelling upon the rocks, and was of mysterious beauty. Half hanging perilously over the rocks and half built into them, it was composed of a house above and a terrace below, facing a tiny pond in front and backed to a mountain. One could sit and play the guitar or sing loudly and the wind would carry the tune farther than it could be heard from any other place. People would never lose their interest in hearing such music.
