when Socrates meets Confucius .

Good morning, honorable judges and my dear fellow students,I’m glad to give the speech when Socrates meets Confucius .

When i first saw the topic set for the contest,an interesting saying suddenly flashed into my mind : you must get married whatever it happens, if you marry a virtuous wife ,you'll live with full happiness,if you marry a terrible wife,you'll become a philosopher then. Yes,it’s one of the most famous sayings from Socrates.

Guess what? there ‘s another relevant saying which goes ,only women and small-minded men are hard to deal with. A-ha,it’s from Confucius, spreads up to now in China ,what an coincidence it is !

We all know that Confucius was a great Chinese thinker, educator and statesman in the east. Confucius , like a vivid light in the deep dark, gave hope and ways to those who got lost. Similarly,Socrates, the most famous ancient Greek philosopher and educator in the west ,left an profound impact on European so far. Now,we might as well suppose they meet each other, i can almost know that they become good friends , live in harmony with each other, because they have so much in common.

However,are there any differences between them?just let’s go and see.one golden morning of a sunny day,Confucius and Socrates go boating on a charming lake ,wind blows gently. And they begin to talk about their teaching methods.Confucius smooths his white beard,i devote myself to teach students knowledge as much as i can .i often tell them what is evil ,what is kindness,what can be done and what can not be done.i want them to learn to believe.Hardly had his voice faded away,Socrates argues ,oh,I’m afraid i can’t accept that. In fact,i prefer to let them raise questions,argue ,ask and think,i always drive my students to suspect every other authority and truth .

Saint meet saint , maybe no one can really tell for sure

what will happen .But actually something can be done for us.as successors, We should study into both of their ideas, select and combine them.if so, i believe we will lead a happier life,Our nations may enjoy much more incredible civilization progress and fabulous prosperity that exists never before !
