The Potential Problems of Intercultural Communicat

There is a growing consensus that the potential problems of intercultural communication gradually become the highlight of different nations. Although I have never experienced any intercultural communication barriers, I also get some information about it.

First of all, since the nonverbal communication is a vital factor in delivery, it is widely used in intercultural communication.But it is hard for people to catch its accurate meaning because of the various forms, such as the posture,facial expression, gesture, eye contact. Besides, as an idiom goes:“Each place has its streams in from all over the country ”, the cultural diversity is an apparent obstacle to intercultural communication. Sometimes it affects the understanding of the information people give. What’s more, language is the link between nation and nation. If people cannot acquire the language intensively, a fuzzy definition may change the original objective.

Fortunately, these problems can be overcame if we found some proper methods. For example, we can choose to use the right movements of our face and body for the right situation. Moreover, some background knowledge of the target culture is necessary. Finally, developing the ability of language,communicative competence,pragmatic competence.

Admittedly, these problems still exist. However,when we find out the feasible countermeasures to overcome these obstacles,they can be a stepstone to our social development.
